Topic: Closing the Leadership Gender Gap – What Really Holds Women Back and What They Can Do About It

Women possess many of the important leadership attributes essential for leading in the 21st Century. In fact, women consistently outperform men when it comes to interpersonal and professional competencies and skills yet they are still far behind men when it comes to the most senior levels. Why is that? Recent studies show that talented female leaders do not have as much opportunity in developing their leadership agility. This calls for experience in dealing with complex business challenges and growing and leveraging their business acumen in strategic areas that provide high visibility that are sought after in the C-Suite. Unfortunately, this is the skill that most women’s global leadership programs fail to focus on.

So, how do women close this gap and develop their agility and acumen as a leader?

Rebecca Shambaugh will share her organization’s research and strategies, as well as individual and organizational best practices from her bestselling books, “It’s Not a Glass Ceiling, It’s a Sticky Floor” and “Make Room for Her: Why Organizations Need an Integrated Leadership Model to Achieve Extraordinary Results,” on a multi-level framework for becoming a strategic and agile leader that will not only open doors and create greater opportunities for female leaders but also be the catalyst for gender balanced leadership in the 21st Century.

This session will include:

  • Assessing Your Current Leadership Agility and Influence
  • The Number One Thing That Holds Women Back from Developing Leadership Agility
  • Staying Focused on What Matters – Having a Results Focused Mindset
  • Developing Your Leadership Agility Through a Multi-Level Framework
  • Showing Up with Your Executive Voice

Rebecca speaks before thousands of leaders around the world every year, challenging conventional wisdom and overturning assumptions about how to lead in today’s business environment. Her compelling and new vision for leadership in the 21st Century has electrified and inspired audiences on six continents.

Rebecca has been showcased on CNBC, TED Talks, Fox News (New York), NPR, Washington Business, ABC, and numerous syndicated radio talk shows. Rebecca is the author of the best-selling books titled, “It’s Not a Glass Ceiling, It’s a Sticky Floor,” “Leadership Secrets of Hillary Clinton,” and “Make Room for Her: Why Companies Need an Integrated Leadership Model to Achieve Extraordinary Results.”

It is always inspiring to hear from Rebecca Shambaugh, an influential, powerful women leader. I was particularly intrigued by the interactive exercises used within the presentation to promote self-awareness and personal branding. Rebecca’s engaging approach, personal stories, and exercises shared were incredibly helpful in identifying my own personal strengths in the workplace which can be leveraged within my company for obtaining additional responsibilities in my current role. I hope to attend other presentations of Rebecca in the future. — Forté Foundation

Rebecca’s talk was excellent, very informative and engaging. This was the best talk I’ve attended at IBM. Not only was it informative but I will be utilizing Rebecca’s concepts in my career planning. — Vice President, IBM

I have had the pleasure of working with Becky for nearly 10 years, at two different top institutions of higher education. Her message of empowerment and enlightenment resonates coast to coast, with corporate and public sector audiences alike. Most recently, I partnered with SHAMBAUGH Leadership to keynote our UC Berkeley Woman’s Initiative. It was a spectacular day, in no small part because of the learning she shared. — CLO and Director of L&D, UC Berkeley
